Love Your Kitchen Has Launched A Website With Solutions To Help People To Eat At Home More
(EMAILWIRE.COM, August 11, 2015 ) Los Angeles, California -- It was announced on the Nation's Restaurant News website in an article dated April 15, 2015 that Americans are cooking less, and that restaurant sales have surpassed grocery store sales.
The article stated, "Earlier this week, the Commerce Department's monthly retail sales report included this juicy nugget: sales at restaurants in March surpassed sales at grocery stores, for the first time, perhaps ever. This came after a month in which restaurant sales rose 0.7 percent, while grocery sales Kitchen Scissors Review fell 0.6 percent. And it was the culmination of a long-term trend toward more restaurant spending and less grocery store spending."
The reasons for not cooking at home, or grabbing a highly processed food that can popped into the microwave are many, but here are just a few:
1. Fast food is cheaper.
2. Cooking is too much work, with shopping, cooking and cleaning up.
3. After a day's work, some people are too hungry and tired to cook. Fast food is easily accessible and has habit-forming appeal.
4. Now there are about five fast-food restaurants for every supermarket in the U.S.
5. Some people hate to cook.
With the above reason #1, a meal at McDonald's for a family of four, consisting of 2 "Big Macs", 1 cheeseburger, 1 6-piece "Chicken McNuggets", 2 medium fries, 2 small fries, 2 medium sodas and 2 small sodas, comes to a total of almost $28.
For this amount, and actually much less, a home-cooked meal could include a whole chicken, potatoes, green vegetables and a simple salad on the side.
"Our addiction to processed food is the result of decades of vision and hard work by the industry," said David A. Kessler, a former commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and author of "The End of Overeating."
Nutrition experts have long identified the lack of home cooking as one of the factors contributing to the ongoing obesity crisis, including childhood obesity. There is also general agreement that this is not an easy problem to solve.
The new website has time-saving and innovative Kitchen tools, recipes, and cooking tips with the goal of helping to restore the willingness to cook and have wholesome home cooked meals. Their Hate to Cook series and other innovative solutions are included at the Love Your Kitchen's new website
